On May 13th, two Saudi oil tankers and a Norwegian ship sailing to the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz were attacked and severely damaged by the Iranian Navy. In response to this, the United States dispatched the USS Lincoln carrier strike group as well as B-52 Stratofortress bombers to the region. This adds already mounting tension to the region after Iran’s leader, Ali Khamenei announced plans to pull out of the Uranium Nuclear Deal.
